Magazine Cover - Quantom of Solace

The main actor of the film fills most of the cover of the magazine. The title of the film is clearly displayed and so is the title of the magazine. Other articles in the magazine are displayed down the side of the magazine. Sometimes more is less, and I believe the key to this cover being a success is the simplicity of it.

Film poster research

The poster focuses on the main actor to draw the attention of the films target audience. People who enjoy Matt Damon in films like Bourne Ultimatum, will also enjoy this film. The poster clearly displays the name of the film and the slogan of the film under the title. Again, the less important information for the general public is displayed in smaller text in a billing block.

Film poster research

The title of the film is clearly displayed and the main characters aren't focused on as much as the other posters. The release date of the film is in large bold writing and the main actors names are also written in white text, to help them stand out against a black background. This poster doesn't include a billing block, but still shows the institutions of the film below.

Film Trailer Research

This trailer uses fast camera shots and fast beat music to build suspense. The trailer uses establishing shots to display the main characters and dialouge from the characters is used to tell the basic storyline of the film.

The trailer features lots of high intensity action scenes to help attract their target audience to the film.

Film Trailer Research

The trailer uses lots of fade transistions between camera shots to fit lots of shots in a small amount of time;this builds suspense and draws people attention as to what is happening. It also uses jerky hand-held camera movements during the fight scenes to help draw in the viewer and make them feel involved with the film.

Music is used throughout the trailer to help build suspense; however it temporarily mutes when key parts of the storyline are told so that the viewer is fully focusing on the dialouge and can get an understanding on the what the film is going to be about.

Information about the film such as actors and release date is shown on title slides in the middle of high action scenes, near the end of the trailer. At these points the audience are giving there full attention to the film and take in the information subconsciously.

Film Trailer Research

For people who have not watched the previous Bourne films,or people who may need a quick reminder on the storyline; the trailer starts of with a short recap of bournes history.

This trailer uses really quick transitions between camera shots to helps build suspense. The music used also helps build suspense. Lots of quick panning shots are used to set the scene quickly and hand-held camera movements are used during the fight scenes to help the viewer feel more involved with what is happening. Important characters are shot from low angles and close ups are used to show the emotions of the characters.

The AS/A2 Course

What you did?
Created a film thriller opening, which had to be no longer than 2 minutes long.

What you enjoyed / did well?
We felt the editing went really well and brought the whole film together. The music added really helped build suspense and tension. The overall day of filming was enjoyable.

What you didn’t enjoy / could improve?
The evaluation and storyline used in the final task were slightly rushed. If we had planned better and started earlier we would of completed them to a higher standard.

The A2 Course

What are you looking forward too?

Filming the main task, getting the editing completed and viewing the final project.

What you want to achieve?
I want to make a successful film trailer, that would make people want to the whole film if it was created.

Any fears or worries?
Coming up with a good story for the trailer and finding a suitable music for it. These are key things which will make the trailer successful; so its important there good.
